Giving to good causes

Charity commitment

Opencast takes its corporate social responsibilities seriously – and as part of this has an active, team-led charitable giving programme.

By the end of 2022, Opencast had given over £100,000 from its profits to no fewer than 27 charitable causes, making donations to grassroots charities working in communities in the North East, UK-wide and internationally.

The charities that benefit from our annual with-profits donations are selected after opening the decision to a vote by the whole Opencast team – ensuring that the donations the company makes reflect the preferences of our people.

In 2022, our 10th year, we donated 2.5% of our profits to a total of 10 charities helping address the issues of poverty & inequality, housing & homelessness, environment & sustainability, and health & medical.

Team effort

Our people’s environmental and social goals matter. That's why in addition to our with-profits donations, our payroll giving schemes allows our people to make regular donations deducted from their salary before tax.

We also match charity fundraising efforts by individual team members. They can also take off a day a year for community volunteering activity, supporting the non-profit of their choice.
